Catherine Annie Hollingsworth is a licensed acupuncturist and owner of Red Sage Acupuncture Center in Miami, FL.
As a young adult, she lived in Brooklyn, NY, where she was involved in both the visual and performing arts. After moving to Miami in 2007 she became fascinated with the healing potential of alternative medicine. She completed her studies in Chinese medicine in 2015, and opened a solo practice in Miami. She treats a wide variety of physical and emotional complaints, and helps patients of all ages to maintain their health and wellbeing.
Her practice is shaped by the sensitivity and awareness she gained in the arts. When treating patients, she looks at the whole person — not just their symptoms but also who they are in health, as well as habits, diet, emotions, and life events to understand why her patients have gotten sick or are feeling bad. She has also embraced her intuition as an important guide in choosing a course of treatment for each patient.
Catherine earned a BA in Visual Arts from Brown University, and a Masters of Oriental Medicine from the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture, with additional study in Dr. Tan’s Balance Method, Applied Channel Theory and trigger point theory. She is board certified by the NCCAOM as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine. Her writing on Chinese Medicine has been published in Acupuncture Today.
Outside of her acupuncture practice, Catherine has an ongoing passion for Haitian folkloric dance, and has been performing in New York and Miami since 2002. She is currently a member of NSL Danse Ensemble, based in Little Haiti. She occasionally writes about dance, and has been published in the Miami Herald, Miami New Times, Miami Rail and Art Papers, and Artburst, among other publications.
